Landscape photography workshop Côte d’Opale

On this two-day workshop we will mainly focus on landscape photography. Besides reviewing the basics of photography, I will go into detail discussing and illustrating exposure, composition, importance of light, preparation and the use of filters in landscape photography. We will also learn to be creative and experiment with long exposure, paint with light and how to create intimate landscapes.

This workshop will take place in the Côte d’Opale, the coastline situated in the north of France, between Calais and Boulogne-sur-mer. Its impressive chalk cliffs, beautiful beaches surrounded by high dunes and idyllic fishermen’s villages and the fairly unspoiled and diverse landscape offer great opportunities for both landscape and nature photographers.

We will start both days early, with a sunrise session at one of the nearby beaches, followed by breakfast at one of the locations. Depending on the weather the afternoon will be spent in the field, location finding or discussing photography techniques, theory or tips in our hotel. In the late afternoon we head out for a sunset shoot which will last until after dawn. After our evening dinner we will take the time to discuss and work on our images taken during the daytime sessions or enjoy a good glass of wine.
We will stay in the "Hotel du Centre" in Wimereux, where we will have all necessaries at our disposal. A beamer and projection screen will be available to discuss and evaluate each other’s pictures or to give a small lecture or presentation. All participants are allowed to bring their images to ask for feedback.

This landscape photography workshop includes two days of photographic tuition, one night accommodation in separate rooms with single, twin or double beds. Breakfast and packed lunch on Sunday will be provided for. The costs do not include restaurant meals and drinks, a personal or equipment insurance, nor transport compensation. We will try to arrange carpooling between all participants.

Each participant should bring all his camera equipment (digital reflex camera) including a decent tripod and filters if possible. If you have a laptop it might be handy to bring it as well. Be sure to bring appropriate winter clothing and a decent set of waterproof walking shoes or boots. Bring your packed lunch for the first day. Please note that this workshop requires basic knowledge of camera techniques.

If you want single room accomodation, please write this in the 'remarks' field on the signup form. An additional fee of €30 will be charged.

After the workshop each participant can ask feedback on images or information about camera material and techniques free of charge.
