Spring
After a rather long and cold winter, spring has finally arrived: grasses are nicely turning green, trees are opening their buds, leafing out the fresh green leaves and spring flowers are popping up everywhere. For a landscape and nature photographer this is the beginning of a very busy time and a lot of early morning rises.
When weather is good spring also offers good chances on a misty morning, giving the landscape that extra atmospheric touch. With a bit of mist and a windless morning forecasted, I decided to go to Damme, a picturesque village north of Bruges and planned to photograph the canals and the trees along them, reflected in the water. Due to the absence of mist, it actually didn’t completely turn out the way I had hoped, but I did manage to get some shots of the canals in the early morning light. If you would like to see a few of these shots, please visit my “recent work” portfolio. The rest of spring season will be very busy; I have a lot of photographic ideas on my to do list, so I hope to add more new work very soon.
Furthermore, I am also making good progress on planning my trip to Ecuador. It will definitely be quite an adventure and I’m really looking forward to explore the impressive Andes Mountains and volcanoes and to wake up at the banks of the Napo River to see the sun rise above the Amazon forest. What a beautiful sight and unbelievable experience this must be! I hope I will be able to share the wonders of Ecuador with you through my work.
However, South America is scheduled for July. In the meantime, I’ve got enough work to keep me busy. An article illustrated with my images of Corfe Castle got published in Outdoor Photography magazine and there is more coming up soon.
Finally, I will be giving a workshop on macro and close-up photography next Sunday, April 18th. There are still a few places left, so if you would like to take part, subscribe now. More information can be found in the “workshop” section on my website.
